The Kaduna State Residents Identity Management Agency (KADRIMA) held its Maiden edition of the Kaduna Digital ID Roundtable yesterday and had in attendance the Honorable Commissioner for Planning and Budget Commission, Hajia Umma Yusuf Aboki, Executive secretary of KADRIMA, Zayyad Tsiga, the VP Economic Inclusion (RPA) Henrietta Bankole-Olusina, NIMC State Coordinator, Abubakar Hassan Muhammad, third party agents and other stakeholders.
The agency was established by law as the Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency (KADSRRA) in 2018. The KADSRRA Law was repealed and substituted by the KADRIMA Law, 2021. KADRIMA is the state’s agency responsible for creating and managing a reliable database for residents of Kaduna State.
The Agency, in collaboration, works with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to integrate data of all residents in the state.
The Kaduna State Government through the Residents Identity Management Agency has made commendable progress in capturing a significant number of the State Adult population (18 and above). Current enrollment figures stand at 5.3 million (out of an estimated population of 9 million).
The discussions centered around success, challenges and collaborative strategies to ensure that residents of Kaduna State are registered. The Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA), a collaborative partner, is also facilitating a community sensitization exercise, to get more people in the identified 10 hard-to-reach areas of Kaduna State. We believe this will further get more people registered as Digital identity is foundational to a number of initiatives of the Kaduna State Government such as Planning and Budgeting, Social Protection, Financial inclusion, e-governance, improved service delivery, and much more.
In conclusion, the Honorable Commissioner, further reiterated the State’s commitment in ensuring the creation of digital identity infrastructure for the State.
Overall, it was a successful deliberation and we look forward to the outcomes from the meetings.
